Sunday Post

Francis Xavier
The original X-Man.

Whenever any politician tells one that he or she is addressing human rights concerns with China, believe none of it:

As Ottawa’s former ambassador to China, Guy Saint-Jacques held no illusions about the authoritarian nature of the regime with which he was dealing.

But he says the time is now right to launch free trade talks with the Communist government.

And he predicts a deal can be reached successfully within three years, much quicker than the decade it took the Australians to conclude an agreement.
“I am reasonably optimistic. In my view, we don’t have much choice,” the now retired career diplomat said.

That's pretty greedy talk for someone who has no illusions about the authoritarian nature of the Chinese regime.

This must be worth a few tariff-free exchanges:

Mei-ming has lain this way for 10 days now: tied up in urine-soaked blankets, scabs of dried mucus growing across her eyes, her face shrinking to a skull, malnutrition slowly shrivelling her two-year old body. The orphanage staff call her room the "dying room", and they have abandoned here for the very same reasons her parents abandoned her shortly after she was born. She is a girl.

When Mei-ming dies four days later, it will be of sheer neglect. Afterward, the orphanage will deny she ever existed. She will be just another invisible victim of the collision between China's one-child policy and its traditional preference for male heirs. She is one of perhaps 15 million female babies who have disappeared from China's demographics since the one-child-per-family policy was introduced in 1979. ...

In one, a dozen or so baby girls sit on bamboo benches in the middle of a courtyard. Their wrists and ankles are tied to the armrests and legs of the bench. A row of plastic buckets is lined up beneath holes in their seats to catch their urine and excrement. The children will not be moved again until night, when they will be lifted out and tied to their beds.

"They had no stimulation, nothing to play with, no one to touch them," says Blewett. In one scene, a handicapped older boy walks up to one of the girls tied to a bench and begins head-butting her relentlessly. The girl doesn't move or make a sound. Such is the lack of stimulation for the children that few of them will ever learn to speak. An endless rocking is the only exercise, the only stimulation, the only pleasure in their lives.

An official of the orphanage tells Blewett that last year, the orphanage had some 400 inmates. They were kept five to a bed in one airless room. The summer temperatures soared to around 100 degrees. In a couple of weeks, 20 percent of the babies died. "If 80 children died last summer, there should be 320 left," Blewett says to one of the assistants, "but there don't appear to be more than a couple of dozen children here. Where are the others?" The girl replies; "They disappear. If I ask where they go, I am just told they die. That's all. I am afraid to ask any more."

Brutal neglect is the common theme of many of the orphanage scenes. In one sequence, a lame child sits on a bench near the orphanage pharmacy. It is full of medicines, but none of the staff can be bothered to administer them. The child rocks listlessly back and forth. The camera focuses on her vacant face, trails down her skinny body, and settles on her leg. It is swollen with gangrene. The worst orphanage, the home of Mei-ming, was in Guangdong, one of the richest provinces in China

When the documentary team arrived, there were no children to be seen or heard. Then from under one of the blankets laid over a cot. there was the sound of crying. Lifting the blanket and unwrapping a tied bundle of cloth, Blewett found a baby girl. The last layer of her swaddling was a plastic bag filled with urine and feces. The next cot was the same, and the next and the next. Many of the children had deep lesions where the string they were tied with had cut into their bodies. One child, described by staff as "normal," was suffering from vitamin B and C deficiencies, acute liver failure, and severe impetigo on her scalp. All the non-handicapped children were girls.

But, hey, more Chinese-owned businesses in Canada!

Also:

In a recent analysis prepared for Global Affairs Canada, Ottawa’s Centre for the Study of Living Standards calculates that at least 150,000 Canadian jobs were lost to Chinese imports during the first decade of this century, and at least 100,000 of those jobs were in manufacturing. But China is fabulously rich, right? Well, no. If China’s wealth were spread evenly throughout its population of 1.3 billion, by the calculations of the International Monetary Fund the Chinese people would still be poorer than the people of Equatorial Guinea and only slightly wealthier than the people of Botswana. But the Chinese government has lifted more than 300 million people out of abject poverty in recent years, hasn’t it? Doesn’t the regime deserve credit for that?

Only if you ignore the fact that the feat was accomplished by merely easing back on the Maoist collectivization of the economy that had induced a famine that killed roughly 45 million people during the 1958-62 Great Leap Forward — a vast crime against humanity that Justin’s father Pierre strangely failed to even notice at the time, while he was touring the country and swanning around with China’s elites.

Like his father, he has consistently been a heartless @$$hole:

Reintegration is the Trudeau government’s solution, but it is a convoluted, expensive and very imperfect process. These goons, reportedly around sixty of them, would be walking Canadian streets, monitored, but not necessarily under constant surveillance because of the exorbitant cost. This means that, despite Trudeau’s insistence that Canada’s security is of paramount concern to his government, the safety of its citizens will indeed be compromised.

(Sidebar: nope, not sixty.)

The ideal action would have been to deny them entry by stripping them of their citizenship. But alas, Trudeau’s famous refrain that “a Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian” precludes such a policy.

**

The ISIS fighter comes back to Canada and the top priority of this Liberal government is to “reintegrate” the individual. This is what the Liberal government is making a priority. This plan is a serious slap in the face to our men and women in uniform and to our allies.
These are people who willingly got on a plane to join ISIS. These are people who enslaved and trafficked girls and women. These are people who have left Canada to take up arms against our country and our allies, fighting against what we believe in and engaging in acts of terror overseas. Our first priority when these individuals are found should be to prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law and ensure that they do not cause any harm to our country. But it would appear that the Trudeau government has a different idea.

Let’s take a look at some of the facts: this is the same Liberal government that reduced Canada’s contribution to the international coalition to combat ISIS earlier this summer. This is the same Liberal government that refused to join our NATO allies in combating the ISIS death cult. This is the same Liberal government that did not recognize that ISIS was committing genocide against Assyrians, Christians and others.

This is the same Liberal government that did not want to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our friends and allies on this important mission.

Here’s Scheer’s question: “Mr. Speaker, it is the Prime Minister who is de-emphasizing Canadian security, and Canadians are tired of it. It was Conservatives who amended the Criminal Code to make it an offence to leave Canada to fight for ISIS. It was Conservatives who were focused on giving our law enforcement new tools to prosecute ISIS fighters. The Prime Minister is using a broad spectrum that includes poetry and podcasts, and all kinds of counselling and group hug sessions. When will the Prime Minister take the security of Canadians seriously and look for ways to put these ISIS fighters in jail?”

That’s the full question, beginning to end.

And here’s Trudeau’s complete response immediately following: “Mr. Speaker, the Conservative Party learned nothing from the last election and the lessons Canadians taught them. They ran an election on snitch lines against Muslims, they ran an election on Islamophobia and division, and still they play the same games, trying to scare Canadians. The fact is we always focus on the security of Canadians, and we always will. They play the politics of fear, and Canadians reject that.”

Scheer hit back, asking: “When will the Prime Minister take this seriously?”

Trudeau’s response: “We can see that Stephen Harper’s Conservative Party is alive and well. They are doubling down on the same approaches they had in the last election, the same approaches that Canadians rejected. I wish them luck.”

The coward in charge dragged back up the bogey-man of Stephen Harper as though by doing so he could make everyone forget that he does not believe that Islamism is a threat to safety of Canadian citizens. He is appealing to his fan base, the band of shallow, thoughtless mouth-breathers who believe everything that they are told.

And therein lies the problem. It is one thing to point out Trudeau or Wynne's incompetence or corruption. Such is the nature of the beast. The bigger issue is the loyalty, the knee-jerk allegiance to a party that plumbs the depths of indecency. That grip-hold of that wretched tribe by those who see no problem in cowardice, whoring for votes among Jew-haters and child rapists, dishonesty, absolute power without any shred of accountability and idiocy or even those incapable of voting for a candidate and his or her platform because they believe the fairy stories told by the opposition - they are the problem. The ability to critically think or empathise or simply not believe utter pig crap like budgets balance themselves and Harper is the bogey-man is a withering counter-argument to the idea that the human race is progressing.

Does anyone think that Trudeau would be elected in any other country?

This is why things like term limits or voter identification are rejected by those on the liberal spectrum. Without any speed bumps to protect everyone else from the thoughtless @$$holes who vote, the powers that be can run over a country like a lit cigarette over alcohol-soaked clothes.

It's just money:

The Liberals are looking beyond the bureaucracy to figure out how to spend more than $1 billion in uncollected benefits meant to help low-income families save for their children’s post-secondary education.

Maybe low-income families can save money by not paying carbon taxes?

I suspect this judge may not remain in Quebec:

A Quebec judge has temporarily stayed a key provision of the controversial law banning people from receiving or giving a public service with their face covered.

Superior Court Justice Babak Barin ruled today the article will be stayed until the province establishes rules under which people can apply for a religious accommodation to the legislation.

Bill 62 was passed in October and was criticized for targeting Muslim women because they are among the few people in society who wear face veils.

The best way to deal with the emotional retards frightened by words is to give them no quarter. One way that can be achieved is simply remove funding, both private and public, from universities until they become places of higher learning as they ought to be:

Universities cannot have it both ways.

They cannot claim to be bastions of free speech if all it takes to derail it is one anonymous complaint on one controversial topic, while public complaints from many students on another controversial topic, are downplayed or ignored.

Because that’s not creating a safe learning environment for students, nor it is defending free speech. It’s hypocrisy.

The American rescue team's thoughts on the North Korean defector whose bullet-riddled body is a testament to a person's desire to be free just to eat:

When the injured soldier was loaded onto into the Black Hawk helicopter, Sgt. 1st Class Gopal Singh, on his last mission as a flight medic, said a prayer. He did not think the man, who had been shot five times, was going to survive.

“I could tell immediately that this guy was probably going to die in the next 15 minutes if we didn’t start working on him and get the aircraft off the ground,” said Singh, a medic in the Eighth Army’s 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, stationed at Camp Humphreys in South Korea.

The evacuation crew did not know it then, but their patient was a North Korean soldier who had just made a daring dash for freedom across the Joint Security Area, the neutral section in the demilitarized zone where enemy troops stand face-to-face.

The soldier, a 24-year-old named Oh Chong Song, was shot five times by North Korean border guards Nov. 13 as he ran across the line, but he managed to get himself to shelter against a building on the southern side.

He lay there, in a pile of leaves, for as long as 30 minutes until South Korean soldiers were able to crawl to him and drag him to safety.

Thirty minutes.

Wow.

But ... but ... women's health!

A former Planned Parenthood worker is suing the abortion business because she says she was denied medical leave for cervical cancer.

Angela Brown, who worked for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Indiana and Kentucky, claims the abortion advocate “intentionally and willfully discriminated against” her after she was diagnosed in 2016. She filed a legal complaint on Monday.

Brown began working for the abortion provider in September 2013. Three years into her job, Brown was diagnosed with cervical cancer and began treatment.

At that point, she says the abortion organization made her employment more difficult. She contends that she was discriminated against because of her disability.

“There’s an assumption that when you treat women with those issues, you’d be sympathetic to those issues,” Heather Falks, an attorney representing Brown, told The Indianapolis Star.

Yep.
