Saturday Night Special

From the most transparent government in the country's history:

Heritage Minister Mélanie Joly’s chief of staff has been lobbied by her former employer Google six times in 2017, which the Conservatives and NDP tell Global News raises concerns as her department plans to overhaul the laws which regulate the media industry in which the U.S.-based tech giant has emerged as one of the world’s most powerful companies.

The Liberal government is not planning on making companies disclose supply chains, even ones that may employ child labour:

The Canadian government isn’t looking at making companies disclose their supply chains, even as Canadians, often unwittingly, are buying billions of dollars worth of products made by child labourers.

A recent report from World Vision Canada suggested imports of “risky” goods to Canada totalled $34 billion last year, up from $26 billion in 2012. ...

World Vision has called for governments to implement laws to oblige companies to publicly reveal their supply chains, via annual reports, allowing consumers to know whether the goods they purchase are made with child or slave labour.

But the Liberal government is not considering the move.

But ... but ... I thought that they were blending in so well:

In one Hamilton neighbourhood 12 months ago, neighbours gathered bicycles and patio furniture for the newly arrived refugees.

They even bought soil to help the Syrians plant a vegetable garden.

But today, relations in the community are anything but neighbourly:

Complaints about boundary issues, violations of private property, unsupervised Syrian children intimidating the Canadian kids and causing adults to fear for their safety.

This week, one incident occasioned the presence of police.

And

In an interview with the National Catholic Register, Father Boulad said that “Islam is an open-ended declaration of war against non-Muslims” and those who carry out violent jihad are true Muslims who are applying exactly what their creed demands. ...

“It is high time to emerge from a shameful and embarrassed silence in the face of this Islamism that attacks the West and the rest of the world. A systematically conciliatory attitude is interpreted by the majority of Muslims as a sign of fear and weakness,” he said.

“If Jesus said to us: Blessed are the peacemakers, he did not say to us: Blessed are the pacifists. Peace is peace at any cost, at any price. Such an attitude is a pure and simple betrayal of truth,” he said.

The priest also stated his belief that the West is in an ethical and moral debacle, and its defense of Islam is a denial of truth.

“By defending at all costs Islam and seeking to exonerate it from the horrors committed every day in its name, one ends up betraying the truth,” he wrote.

Also:

Hate crimes against Catholics rose by 57 per cent — yet no one is talking about them. Where’s the parliamentary motion to condemn Catholiphobia? I haven’t seen the Archbishop of Toronto call for policy changes, either.

Catholicism lacks the grievance industry driving the narrative that Muslims are Canada’s most persecuted group.

Don't let facts ever get in the way of the Narrative.

But ... but ... global warming!

The melt rate of West Antarctica’s Thwaites Glacier is an important concern, because this glacier alone is currently responsible for about 1 percent of global sea level rise. A new NASA study finds that Thwaites’ ice loss will continue, but not quite as rapidly as previous studies have estimated.

The new study, published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, finds that numerical models used in previous studies have overestimated how rapidly ocean water is able to melt the glacier from below, leading them to overestimate the glacier’s total ice loss over the next 50 years by about 7 percent.

To remind one, talking openly about facts like this:

"The cold biological truth is that sex changes are impossible. Every single cell of the human body remains coded with one's birth gender for life. Intersex ambiguities can occur, but they are developmental anomalies that represent a tiny proportion of all human births," pronounced Paglia. The bestselling author also condemned "the escalating prescription of puberty blockers" for children, referring to the practice as "a criminal violation of human rights."

"It is certainly ironic," she observed, "how liberals who posture as defenders of science when it comes to global warming (a sentimental myth unsupported by evidence) flee all reference to biology when it comes to gender."

And this:

"I am a real, live 22-year-old woman, with a scarred chest and a broken voice, and five o'clock shadow because I couldn’t face the idea of growing up to be a woman, that’s my reality," said Cari Stella, a de-transition woman blogger, who is one of those now telling of her heartbreaking reality after transgender therapies and surgery. "Gender was done to me, gender was traumatizing to me, I don't want anything to do with it anymore. ... It can be damn hard to figure out that the treatment you're being told is to help you is actually making your mental health worse. Testosterone made me even more dissociated than I already was."

- is illegal in Canada

There is no "he said/she said" about it.

And now, puppies:

Meet Lucky Star, Schumann, Feida, Brother, AJ and Full Moon – the newest (and the most adorable) dog baby additions to Taiwan’s Police K-9 units. These cuddly and sleepy puppies are about to start their training and will eventually have a serious role in the NPA’S K-9 Anti Bomb And Drug force and Blood Detection units based in Taipei.

(Merci beaucoup)
