The Rotten State of the Union

It really is a toss-up whether Obama is a moron or evil, or even a mixture of both.

I'm tempted to say both.

The State of the Union further delineates his unworkable and insane plans for not only the US but for Canada, as well.

A few highlights:

Tonight, thanks to the grit and determination of the American people, there is much progress to report. After a decade of grinding war, our brave men and women in uniform are coming home. After years of grueling recession, our businesses have created over six million new jobs. We buy more American cars than we have in five years, and less foreign oil than we have in twenty. Our housing market is healing, our stock market is rebounding, and consumers, patients, and homeowners enjoy stronger protections than ever before.
Yes, about that:

The president is cherry-picking a number that puts the improvement in the economy in the best possible light. The low point in jobs was reached in February of 2010, and there has indeed been a gain of  about 6 million jobs since then, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data. But the data also show that since the start of his presidency, about 1.2 million jobs have been created— and the number of jobs in the economy is about 3.2 million lower than when the recession began in December, 2007

As of January 2013, the US unemployment rate stands at 7.9% with 366,000 unemployment insurance claims (seasonal adjustment).

How many Canadian-made parts are in American vehicles, assuming predictions that the industry is in an upswing after governmental interference?

Because loan rates and property prices have become low and only buyers with good credit (as opposed to no or terrible credit), the housing market has seen only a moderate uptick. If Obama wishes to relax the rules any further, he can see a repeat of the meltdown in previous years (and who has the money to buy anything with no jobs?).

Oil production is not up on federal lands where, with technology and extra manpower, the US can out-produce even Saudi Arabia.

And why would Canadians thank Obama for the privilege of paying taxes on oil we would sell to the US?

It is time Canadians became aware of the giant trap being set in Washington over Keystone. The short version is this: The president approves Keystone, greatly expanding the flow of Canadian oil sands production into the United States. In return, however, Canada has no choice but to accept a carbon tax at home as part of a grand bargain.

The State of the Union address rambles on, takes potshots at the Republicans and so on but offers nothing new from Obama's playbook. Unemployment is still high, taxes will soon be (for the middle-class because no "one percenter" will keep his money in Obama's America) and the only way to get oil is to make someone pay through the nose. When Americans are tired of being unemployed or under-employed, will they still believe that the man who added nearly 6 trillion dollars to their debt and has done NOTHING to better their economy is a better and more humane option than the must-maligned GOP?

And that is the state of the union.
